Weather Girl

Synopsis: Goodreads

Why did I choose to read this book?

I originally had this book as a request on NetGalley in late 2021 when all the lists were out. I was denied an advance copy, so I set it aside until the summer began and I made my holds list with my local library. Since it was available, I borrowed it instead of buying it.

What caught my eye about this particular romance was (1) the focus on the world of meteorology (I’m a serious weather nerd) and (2) a quiet, helpful guy getting a weird, complicated girl. I’ve never read Rachel Lynn Solomon’s work, but it comes recommended by Jasmine Guillory, who I have read extensively, so I trusted it enough to give it a go.

What is this book about?

Ari is part of a weather team at a station where the manager and the chief meteorologist are ex-spouses and constantly sparring at work and at work events. She bumps into quiet, kind Russell from the sports team and they comment that it would be so much better at work if their bosses could bury the hatchet. They concoct a plan to get them back together, but while they are doing that, they start to fall for each other.

What is notable about the story?

THIS IS THE MOST ADORABLE BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. ALERT. ADORABLE. I wanted to hug EVERYONE, even the crappy managers. I hope everyone in this story gets all the good things they deserve for all time. This story was the softest throw blanket from the fanciest store you can think of, and it’s wrapped you up in a small cabin in Vermont in front of a fireplace while snow falls softly outside, and you’re sipping a hot chocolate with those little marshmallows in it. I HAVE NEVER HAD A BOOK, A ROMANCE BOOK(!!!), MAKE ME CRY BECAUSE IT WAS SO GODDAMN KIND. Even that inevitable “fight” before the HEA was kind. EVEN THE SEX SCENES WERE ADORABLE AND KIND BUT ALSO HOT.

YES I KNOW I’M YELLING BUT THIS BOOK!!! THIS BOOK!!! AAAAHHHHHREOIUWHFEWOFWW!!!

Was anything not so great?

Nothing – this book is amazing you should read it, no notes.

What’s the verdict?

5 stars, excellent, please read this book, you deserve it. If you can’t afford it get it from the library like I did, but honestly I think I have to buy it now because this is one of those books you reread because it’s a gift. A goddamn gift.
