What’s Up This Week? February 5th-February 11th

Welcome back! 2023 Week 6 holds a 4 day work week with a jury duty summons smack dab in the middle on Wednesday. I stuck to my streaming schedule yet again and brought my concurrent viewers average up to 2.40 from 2.04 last week (the goals is 3). Just keep swimming – slow and steady wins the race.

As always, you can find me at all around the internet via my LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/angryangelbooks

Furious Angel Book Club

This year I launched/announced a new venture for Angry Angel Books: the Furious Angel Book Club. It meets monthly and the first three months will be open to any level of membership on Patreon or Ko-Fi. Click here to read about this new community. This month’s title was Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. If you haven’t become a patron or member yet, you still have time! The first three FABC meetings of 2023 are open to all levels of membership. This month we are reading Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, Book 2 in the Grisha Trilogy. If there are members to participate, the FABC February meeting will be on Saturday, February 25th at 7pm eastern time.

Book Reviews

Once in awhile you read a book so spectacular that you speed through it in a couple of days, then you beg anyone who will listen to read it too. I’ve got one such book this week: The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty. It doesn’t come out until February 28th, but if you read my reviews and you trust my judgment, you may want to preorder this one.

Once I finish Amina, I’ll begin The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill. It is a very short book so I hope to have its review ready for you later this week. The Crane Husband will be released on February 28, 2023.

Live Streaming/Videos

I am making slow and steady process toward Twitch Affiliate status. Here is where I am so far. Once I get that last bar to 3 concurrent viewers, I’ll be promoted and I can’t wait!

I am streaming five games at the moment: Destiny 2:

Horizon Zero Dawn:

Kena Bridge of Spirits

Shadow of the Colossus

and Stray.

All games have a trailer linked so you can get an idea of what the game is like. My schedule is Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 6pm(ish) to 8:30pm(ish). I also stream on the weekends, but the times are variable. All streams are uploaded to my YouTube channel (LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/angryangelbooks) so if you ever miss a stream you can watch it after it’s over on YouTube. Please follow and subscribe both on Twitch and YouTube to support me.

I stopped playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Much like reading books, if you play a video game and you get stuck or frustrated, if you try the game multiple times, if you just aren’t feeling it – it’s okay to stop. The only downside is that video games are expensive and you can’t always get them from the library to avoid the $30-100 cost, and even when you can you can only have them for like a week before they are due back.

Essay Series

I am continuing to provide content on Patreon and Ko-Fi but I think it’s going to be on a more sporadic basis. I’m throwing most of my weight behind the books, video gaming, and crafting side of my goals for this year, so the essays will happen when they happen. Follow me there to get alerts when they publish. This will be last time I mention them here.

Angry Angel Crafts

Just yesterday I set up the sewing machine that the husband got me for Christmas and I have begun sewing squares together for my first “test” quilt. It’s the size of a throw blanket and I’m only working on the top but today I hope to finish that so I can pick up the middle and back layers at a Joann’s or Michael’s this week and finish it next weekend. The goal is to make a bunch of stuff this spring and summer so I can have an Etsy shop up and fully stocked for the fall/holiday season. I am just starting to relearn this skill, so it will take some practice yet, but I will post pictures next week once I have it completed.

Have a great week!
