What’s Up This Week? February 12th-February 18th

Welcome back! 2023 Week 7 presents me with a 4 day work week but I’ll be out Friday this time. We’re just over the hump of quarter 3 of the school year, with only four weeks remaining until Spring Break. You would think that February would be a fast month but it always feels twice as long as it is. Making matters worse is the removal of President’s Day as a holiday, replacing it with an actual school day to make up the time lost when Hurricane Ian hit this past fall. But I have all my new hobbies and ventures to keep me busy, so let’s get right into it.

As always, you can find me at all around the internet via my LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/angryangelbooks

Book Reviews

I’m hoping to have two book reviews ready for you this week. One is a spy thriller with a main character trying to root out a mole, the other is the first in a fantasy series about fallen gods and the powers they accidentally bestowed upon mortals.

I absolutely loved The Fervor by Alma Katsu, so when I saw Red London appear on NetGalley I requested it (and was approved!) but it’s the second book in a series. I picked Red Widow up at the library to read first. Alma Katsu is former CIA so her books have a deeper level of detail that makes them extra suspenseful. Red London is available for preorder now and will be available anywhere books are sold on March 14, 2023.

Hannah Whitten wrote For the Wolf and For the Throne, the Wilderwood Duology that I thoroughly enjoyed. Her writing is very lush, whether she’s describing a beautiful gown or a rotting corpse you will be able to envision it with ease. There seems to be a necromancy trend moving through the fantasy genre at the moment, and I’m here for it. The Foxglove King is the first in another series by Whitten that is available for preorder now and will be available wherever books are sold on March 7, 2023.

Live Streaming/Videos

I am making slow and steady process toward Twitch Affiliate status. Here is where I am so far. Once I get that last bar to 3 concurrent viewers, I’ll be promoted and I can’t wait! This week I brought the concurrent viewers number up to 2.71 from 2.4 last week.

Last week I streamed five games: Destiny 2:

Horizon Zero Dawn:

Kena Bridge of Spirits

Shadow of the Colossus

and Stray.

All games have a trailer linked so you can get an idea of what the game is like. Shadow of the Colossus was VERY boring and I had to Google everything, a combination which is a deal breaker for me. I’ll be replacing it next week with a first play of The Last Guardian, which is made by the same studio that did Shadow of the Colossus so we’ll see if it’s any better.

My schedule is Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 6pm(ish) to 8:30pm(ish). I also stream on the weekends, but the times are variable. All streams are uploaded to my YouTube channel (LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/angryangelbooks) so if you ever miss a stream you can watch it after it’s over on YouTube. Please follow and subscribe both on Twitch and YouTube to support me.

The husband bought me a capture card, which will not allow me to stream games that I play on the Nintendo Switch. This past weekend I streamed some Minecraft, but I’m planning to do more games this way. With the new Zelda coming out, and new Pokemon, this will make my streams more up to date and relevant, hopefully bringing in more viewers/followers.

Angry Angel Crafts

This weekend I am finishing up the top of my first test quilt. It’s the size of a throw blanket, and I thought I would be finished last weekend but it was smaller than I thought it would turn out so I have to make some more blocks today to fill it out to the appropriate size. Once that is finished I can pick up the middle and back layers at a Joann’s or Michael’s this week and truly finish it next weekend. The goal is to make a bunch of stuff this spring and summer so I can have an Etsy shop up and fully stocked for the fall/holiday season. I am just starting to relearn this skill, so it will take some practice yet, but I will post pictures once I have it completed.

Have a great week!
